As a community, we need to work together towards developing and maintaining a sustainable, locally sourced food system. Cooperative Solutions is a non-profit organization driven to overcome the problems inherent with our current food system. Cooperative Solutions believes that a strong economy and a strong community can be built through a stable, consistent and accessible local food system.
The work we are doing as Backyard Farmers is critical to deepen our understanding of how much space and effort it takes to supplement our diets. Cooperative Solutions analyzes data from all of the Backyard Farm plots to see what methods are most effective, what crops grow best or yield the most, which are the healthiest, etc. Additionally, by using small bio-intensive plots as a model, Cooperative Solutions hopes to derive further data about labor needs on larger scale operations.
